Carrie wanted our opinions on other writers. My opinion took a sharp turn when I wasn’t expecting it. Turns out, I can be a bit of a negative pain in the ass, and so can you. Let’s knock off that behavior together, huh?

Hi!

Yes, this is the Gayle you met at Stumptown on Saturday or Sunday. Or, if you have completely forgotten my name, yes, this is that person you met at that table by that other table with those people from that thing.

Those people, by the way, were Jesse Snavlin and Dan Schkade of The Committe Building, where The Adventures of Stop & Go and The Private Files of the Fowl are published weekly. If you just want to pick up the first volume of The Fowl that you spotted on the table but didn’t get time to circle back for, you can visit their store.

Now, about me. I’ve got some publication credits to my name, which are listed down and to the right on this page. I’ve also got What the Hell am I Writing?, which is the name I was under at the show. I’ve currently got a short story and a non-fiction essay for sale, and I’ve got a 5-page comic, “April 16th, 6:44 AM” out for lettering, to be published at The Committee Building upon its completion. Oh, and they have a tumblr, too! It’s thecommitteebuilding.tumblr.com.

I’ll be tabling at Stumptown Comics Expo this weekend

Stumptown Comics Expo is this Saturday and Sunday (April 27-28) at the Convention Center in Portland , OR, and I’ll be there all weekend sharing table space with the main crew of The Committee Building, Jesse Snavlin and Dan Schkade. We’ll be at table H7 (scroll to the bottom of this page for an enlargeable map of the space–we’re pretty much dead center), and you should swing by and say hi. It’s a great con (I went last year as a regular attendee and found some really stellar books), and I can’t wait to be part of it in a whole new way.

Be a love, bring coffee. Venti dark roast, three sugars, a decent pour of milk.

I am very happy to announce that I’ll soon have my poem, “Let’s Run Away,” published in See Spot Run, which is a lovely lit mag from Alma College. Given my own history with a student-run press, I’m always happy to help another press do their thing.

A neat factoid about Liquid Imagination: They match every written piece with a piece of art, and the writers don’t see the art until the issue goes live. I really love my piece of art.
